Описание Pro-Ject LP LSC 2125-1 (Grieg - Music from Peer Gynt)
The strings of the Boston Symphony have never sounded better than they did during the recordings sessions from the Spring of 1957. Under the direction of Charles Munch and Arthur Fiedler, some of the finest string playing in the history of the stereophonic LP was recorded ! Prime examples of these stellar sessions include Tchaikovsky´s Serenade For strings, Barber´s Adagio For Strings and Fiedler´s magnificent performance of Grieg´s Peer Gynt Suites 1 & 2. This recording features noted soprano Eileen Farrell. Fiedler coupled Peer Gynt with Grieg´s luscious Lyric Suite, another tour de force for those incredible Boston strings ! Since this record was made with pop-classical maestro Arthur Fiedler, the orchestra appears as their alternate guise of The Boston Pops.
Steeped with strong competition, Fiedler´s Peer Gynt stands at the top of all the recordings. This performance has drive, energy, precision and above all, the soul that is missing from any of todays sterile readings. This new 180-gram issue has all the fullness and weight audiophiles have come to expect from RCA´s BSO recordings. There are some very good reasons why many of the Living Stereo Boston records are now highly prized collectors items. If you have invested your time and money into a state-of-the-art analog playback system, you deserve this stunning example of LP technology.
